Portable Appliance Testing

Pat testing (portable appliance testing) is part of any health and safety policy. Basically the Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations, and take steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment.

Quality of service and customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to us. Our aim is to take the worry out of your Portable Appliance Testing requirements. With this in mind we aim to test a site with the least disruption caused for a competitive price.

All our Portable Appliance Testing engineers are qualified to City & Guilds 2377 "Certificate of Competence for the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment" standards. They are also CRB checked.

We work with local authorities, schools, companies, educational institutions, private landlords, letting agents and charities across the North West, with a number of significant contracts nationwide.

Fixed Wire Test and Inspection

This often over-looked but extremely important form of testing is fast becoming a statutory requirement of many insurance companies.

The regulations as stated in IEE BS7671 (guidance note 3) is of course the standard by which we inspect and test electrical installations. The frequency of testing is dependant largely on the type and use of the building concerned and can range from 1 to 10 years.

A periodic inspection can reveal a great deal of information about the condition of the wiring, safety systems and developing faults. As an integral part of your maintenance it can in turn be used as a preventive measure. This can cut future costs, electrical fires and prevent unnecessary injury.

After completing a periodic inspection we produce an easy to read report. This is combined with a supporting document outlining any departures from the regulations, a condition report and if any part of the installation is found to be unsafe you will be informed immediately, and advised on action required.

A method statement can be requested from head office if required. To maintain the highest possible standards MJM Energy & Safety Services Ltd. are inspected by NICEIC. We offer the option of both in and out of hours working to suit your requirements.
